The AAMC is a nonprofit organization focused on improving health through medical education, patient care, research, and community engagement. Its membership includes all 163 accredited U.S. medical schools, 12 Canadian schools, over 400 academic health systems and hospitals, and more than 70 academic societies. The AAMC also partners with the Department of Veterans Affairs and supports over 220,000 faculty, 100,000 medical students, 167,000 residents, and 60,000 graduate students and postdocs. Through its international alliance, it reaches more than 60 academic health centers worldwide.
