DESCRIPTION:Interdisciplinary scientific collaboration is necessary to addr
ess today’s most pressing societal challenges. However while scientific ex
pertise has substantially improved\, few members of the research community
have been trained in effective teaming. The lack of attention to the coll
aboration aspects of scientific projects is surprising given that effectiv
e teaming is a significant predictor for research productively\, job satis
faction\, and career advancement. CCTSI offers an asynchronous teaming 101
courses and six two-hour synchronous interactive team science workshops o
n Zoom. This paper uses pre and post program survey data from two years an
d over 100 participants. We find that participants increased their familia
rity\, confidence\, and use of several team science strategies after compl
eting the workshop series. Participants reported greater understanding of
all aspects of teaming including creating team charters\, building a share
d language\, acknowledging and including diversity\, and monitoring progre
ss and benchmarks. Our findings suggest that virtual\, interactive worksho
ps can increase specific team science competencies.
