Description
Typical medical curricula consist 1-2 years of biomedical science followed by 2-3 years of clinical education. Biomedical science underpins medical practice and reasoning. Yet, biomedical science is often taught in the absence of clinical context whereas clinical education often lacks reference to biomedical science principles. This may compromise students' development as truly competent doctors. This session aims to delve into the philopsohpies, challenges and strategies surrounding this issue.
Session Objectives:
- Participants will be made aware of the importance and challenges related to the integration of medical science and clinical concepts in health professions education.
- Participants will be exposed to the various strategies and approaches available as well as challenges confronting integration in different contexts.
- Participants will be given the opportunity to collaborate on ideas that promote integration as well as think deeper on the issue.
