Bio
Dr. Fisher received her Ph.D. from Yale University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She was recruited to the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix (UA COM-P) as a founding faculty member in 2006 and was responsible for designing the anatomy curriculum and the gross anatomy laboratory for the campus. Dr. Fisher is an award-winning educator with 19 years of experience teaching anatomy to medical students and other health care professionals. In addition, she has collaborated with Dr. Standley to design suicide awareness and diversity training courses for students, faculty, and staff. Dr. Fisher has received nine teaching awards, including the Basmajian Award from the American Association of Anatomists, and she was recently inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in recognition of her leadership in fostering empathy in students. Dr. Fisher’s research program focuses on the functional anatomy of the musculoskeletal system and she is currently funded by the Office of Naval Research. She is passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM fields and currently serves on the COM-P Diversity Committee and as faculty advisor for LGBTQ in Medicine.
