Dr. Helena Carvalho is an Associate professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She has more than 20 years of experience teaching several areas in medical physiology including as a Basic Science Block Director and PBL facilitator. Helena teaches all levels of students volunteering in the community and annually participates in several outreach activities such as Kids Tech University (middle school students), Lycée day (high school students), and serves as a judge in science fairs. Helena’s research interest is in developing innovative teaching methodologies that leads to students’ engagement and long-term learning.
