Bio
Dr. McMahon received her BA in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM). She completed her rotating internship at Largo Medical Center in Largo Florida and her pediatric residency training at both NYU- Winthrop Hospital in Mineola New York and University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland California. She is presently an Associate Professor of Clinical Specialties, Division of Pediatrics at NYITCOM where she continues to care for pediatric patients and is the Director of the problem-based learning (PBL) curriculum. This small group, student centered, patient focused preclinical curriculum was established at the medical school in 2005 and continues to inspire self-directed foundational science and clinical medicine learning through thoughtful clinical cases.

The majority of her pediatric practice career was with Kaiser Permanente in Norther California, but also included private practice for several years. Since 2009 she has been seeing patients in the Academic Health Care Facility at NYITCOM.

Dr. McMahon serves on the National Faculty for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, is a New York State Delegate to the American Osteopathic Association House of Delegates and a technical panel expert for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute based in Washington DC.

Like her colleagues at IAMSE, Dr. McMahon is passionate about student engagement and providing tools for life-long learning.
