Bio
Dr. Nelleke Gruis is a lecturer and scientist (associate professor) at the Leiden University Medical Center. Dr Gruis has a senior qualification education of the Leiden University and is a member of the team of Prof. Fred Janssen who is a full professor of science education (ICLON, Leiden University). She has an interest in inquiry based teaching and learning and applied the inquiry based three step method of Fred Janssen in her own teaching. She educates medical and biomedical science students, and is a coordinator of the LUMC research oriented extracurricular Honours program for medical students. Furthermore she is coordinator of the curriculum for bachelor medical students, year 1. She gives workshop on inquiry based teaching and learning and advices tutors on how to implement and use the three step method of Fred Janssen in medical and biomedical courses to make these courses more inquiry based. Dr. Gruis has published together with Dr. Belinda Ommering who studied the role of motivation for research among undergraduate students.
