Bio
Dr. Tiffany S. Maxwell, currently serves as the Department Chair and Program Director at the University of Maryland Eastern. Dr. Maxwell has over seven years of higher education experience within the University System of Maryland and over sixteen years of clinical experience as a Board-Certified Physician Assistant.
During her tenure at the University of Maryland Eastern, Dr. Maxwell developed and designed the physician assistant program in accordance to The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accreditation, as the program successfully received accreditation in March of 2020. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is one of the four Hectically Black College University with a physician assistant program. During COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Maxwell was selected to Chair the university’s Public Safety and Health Workgroup, The Public Safety and Health Workgroup, is responsible for developing and writing the standard operation procedures for the return of faculty, staff and students to campus safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Maxwell’s clinical background consists of over sixteen years of practicing internal medicine within military communities and federal healthcare institutions. Before her transition into academia, Dr. Maxwell served as a Civil Service employee at The Pentagon. During her tenure there, she worked within deployment health services, to identify and provide healthcare services to active duty service members that experienced traumatic brain injuries. In addition, she was actively involved with implementing healthcare policy, regulations and educating civilian healthcare providers on federal guidelines and healthcare management within the Department of Defense. Dr. Maxwell, continues to practice medicine within the local federal healthcare institutions, she continues to practices and hold clinical privileges at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in Springfield, VA.
