Bio
Elizabeth M. Petty, MD, is the senior associate dean for academic affairs, the medical director of the genetic counselor training program and a professor of pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She was recruited to the UW-SMPH faculty in 2011 to oversee health professional degree programs, students and to guide the academic missions of GME, CME, global health and learner diversity programs. She enjoys integrating biomedical, social, clinical and public health concepts to improve outcomes for learners, healthcare professionals and patients.
Dr. Petty has engaged students and faculty in research and quality improvement projects relevant to education, clinical care, ethical and social issues related to human genomics and optimizing the learning environment to promote caring, kindness and nurturing. She passionately embraces opportunities to shape the future of academic medicine to promote lifelong learning and discovery—creating strong clinical and community partnerships to optimize learning for students and health outcomes for all patients, families and populations.
