Bio
Corey A. Thompson, MD, is a PGY-1 completing his transitional year at Riverside Methodist Hospital before beginning Radiology residency at The University of Colorado.
Dr. Thompson received his MD from The Ohio State University College of Medicine where he served as student council class president. In addition to his roles on student council, Dr. Thompson also developed a pipeline program titled HEADS-UP (Health Education and Development Services for Underprivileged Populations), a pipeline program aimed at exposing youth of minority backgrounds to the wonders of medicine. As a 3rd year medical student, he helped to develop and teach the bioethics course titled, “Advanced Medical Ethics & Professionalism: The Experience of the Black Person,” which serves as the groundwork for this abstract.
Dr. Thompson’s scholarly interests include diversity, equity, and inclusion within medicine, equitable access to imaging services for underserved populations, and health policy. He is looking forward to moving to Colorado and delving deeper into Radiology and how he can use that skill-set to further advocate for patients of color.
Upon graduating from The Ohio State College of Medicine, Dr. Thompson was awarded with the Excellence in Public Health Award for his commitment to reducing health disparities through education and service to his community demonstrated through his development of HEADS-UP. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Dr. Robert D. Berkebile Memorial Award in recognition of determination, expertise, and promise in the field of Radiology.
