As an educational scholar and current President of AMEE, the International Association for Health Professions Education, Dr. Ramani aims to discuss the optimal distinctiveness theory which describes that individuals flourish when belonging to a community yet need to be seen as unique in adding value to their communities of practice. A framework for inclusive excellence will be showcased as a valuable strategy to nurture multicultural and global communities of educators. With expanding globalisation in health professions education, it is essential that educational initiatives highlight curiosity and respect for a variety of perspectives, humility in seeking knowledge from others, and a safe space to engage in these conversations.
