Healthcare is undergoing a digital transformation, with AI technologies becoming integral to patient care, diagnostics, and clinical research. Future healthcare professionals need to be equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate a data-rich, technology-driven healthcare environment. Thus, there is a critical need for health professions education to keep pace with technological advancements, particularly those that can enhance instruction and student learning. This focus session will address the emergence of AI platforms and how they can be utilized in health professions education. Participants will gain tools and knowledge about integrating AI into curricula, from in-class activities to assessments to student self-directed learning. Participants will learn how to generate and refine prompts to elicit desired information, identify the strengths and weaknesses of these platforms, and reflect on the ethical implications of their use in healthcare.

During this focus session, participants will:
-Utilize chatbots to develop medical scenarios, clinical board-style questions, assessments, and interactive modules, as well as support curricular design.
-Identify potential challenges and limitations of using AI in health professions settings
-Discuss current best practices and ethical considerations to promote responsible AI usage
-Build a community of practice interested in AI, enabling knowledge-sharing and future collaboration
At the end of this focus session, participants will be able to:
-Gain increased confidence using AI-driven platforms in individual and collaborative settings
-Use AI to develop instructional materials, teach, evaluate student knowledge, and provide personalized feedback to support students
-Modify pedagogy to stay at the forefront of educational innovation.
