Dr. Susan Cline earned a PhD in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University. She is a tenured Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Mercer University School of Medicine, where she has been on faculty for 19 years teaching biochemistry to medical students in a case-based curriculum. During her career, Dr. Cline has conducted NIH-funded research in mitochondrial gene expression and founded and directed a Master of Science Program designed as a pathway for students to doctoral programs in the health professions. She served on the Curriculum and Instruction Committee for the MD Program for seven years and as faculty accreditation lead for the Mercer MD Program self-study for LCME accreditation renewal in 2021. Later that year, she was appointed Senior Associate Dean of Strategic Planning, Accreditation and Evaluation and developed a new office focused on continuous quality improvement and programmatic assessment. Dr. Cline served as President of the Association of Biochemistry Educators from 2017 - 2019 and is an author of Lippincott Illustrated Reviews Biochemistry. Her scholarship focuses on continuous quality improvement in health professions education and the integrated teaching of biomedical and clinical sciences in medical education.
