Deilson Elgui de Oliveira, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Pathology at São Paulo State University (UNESP), where his career merges pioneering research in oncology with a deep commitment to educational innovation. He is the Principal Investigator of the Viral Carcinogenesis and Cancer Biology Research Group (ViriCan), which investigates the mechanisms of viral carcinogenesis, cancer immunobiology, and tumor progression, elucidating essential aspects of cancer biology and what drives disease aggression. A dedicated educator, he has a broad teaching portfolio across health sciences, including Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, in courses such as General and Anatomic Pathology, Cancer Biology, Scientific Reasoning, and Entrepreneurship. Since 2022, Dr. Elgui de Oliveira has been at the forefront of integrating Generative AI into higher education. He applies expert prompt engineering to build AI-based assistants that create engaging learning experiences, enhance critical thinking, and improve educational outcomes. This work is remodeling pedagogical approaches in the biomedical sciences by integrating innovative AI tools to foster more active and effective learning environments, shaping the next generation of scientists and health professionals.
