Dr. Antonio E. Rusiñol is a Full Professor with Tenure in the Department of Medical Education at East Tennessee State University's (ETSU) Quillen College of Medicine (QCOM). His career combines research in biochemistry and molecular biology with a strong commitment to medical and graduate education. As an educator, Dr. Rusiñol has taught and directed foundational courses for first-year medical students, including Medical Biochemistry, Cellular & Molecular Medicine, and Foundations of Medical Knowledge. His teaching has been recognized with numerous awards, including the QCOM Dean's Distinguished Teaching Award and the M1 Professor of the Year Caduceus Award on multiple occasions. He is also an eight-time recipient of the Scarlet Sash Society Award, given by graduating medical students to top teaching faculty. In his role as a mentor, he has chaired Ph.D. thesis committees and served as a committee member for over forty graduate students.
Dr. Rusiñol has also contributed extensively through institutional service. He has been a member of the QCOM Admissions Committee since 2008 and has chaired its Diversity Scholarship Subcommittee since 2014. His leadership roles have included serving as Chair of the QCOM Faculty Advisory Council and Chair of the QCOM Diversity and Inclusion Council.
Dr. Rusiñol has also contributed extensively through institutional service.
