This ignite presentation draws from a long-term project on racist and white nationalist misappropriations of genetics. It shows how certain actors have exploited open science infrastructures and norms of intellectual freedom tried to create a racist counterscience on the boundaries of mainstream, legitimate scientific research institutions. Racist misappropriations of science create a series of epistemological, practical, political, and moral dilemmas for mainstream scientific researchers. How should we respond?
