Description

Purpose
Simulation centers are essential to preparing future healthcare professionals, yet many legacy spaces lack the adaptability, technology, and curricular integration needed today. This presentation outlines the design and implementation of a new simulation center within a recently established medical school that co-locates high-fidelity simulation, skills training, and a full cadaveric anatomy lab.

Methods
A cross-disciplinary planning team—including faculty, simulation staff, IT, facilities, and curriculum leadership—prioritized flexible space, integrated AV/VR capabilities, and physical adjacency between anatomy, procedural skills, and scenario-based simulation. The design includes modular simulation rooms, convertible task training zones, debriefing suites, and a cadaver lab directly connected to clinical learning areas. Stakeholder feedback was gathered through walkthroughs, mock-ups, and pilot sessions. Design was guided by principles of learner-centered education, operational sustainability, and future scalability.

Results
Since opening in 2023, the center has hosted over 100 sessions including OSCEs, interprofessional mass casualty drills, and hybrid anatomy-simulation labs. The co-location of the cadaver lab and sim bays has enabled students to move directly from dissection to hands-on application of procedural skills. Faculty and learner feedback has emphasized the improved workflow, realism, and usability of the space. LMS-integrated AV recording has enhanced assessment and debriefing.

Conclusion:
This talk shares practical strategies and lessons learned to inform future simulation space development, not just for one institution, but as a model adaptable to diverse global contexts. As healthcare education continues to globalize, intentionally designed simulation centers can serve as hubs for international collaboration, cross-cultural learning, and the advancement of educational equity.
