Description

Purpose
Faculty in health professions education are expected to lead change, manage teams, and mentor learners, often without formal leadership training. This study evaluated a 14-week program titled Leadership and Organizational Change, designed to strengthen professional identity through leadership development, emotional intelligence, and reflective practice.

Methods
The course was structured using Conger’s four approaches: conceptual understanding, skill building, feedback, and personal growth. Instructional strategies included literature reviews, discussions, role plays, leadership project planning, 360-degree feedback, teaching philosophy development, and weekly reflections. Topics covered included leadership styles, personality types, emotional intelligence, group dynamics, conflict and change management, mentoring in health professions education, strengths-based leadership, appreciative inquiry, and managing responsibilities (“monkey management”). Evaluation was guided by Kirkpatrick’s framework, and data were analyzed using thematic analysis.

Results
Participants reported improved self-awareness, confidence in team settings, and greater ability to apply leadership principles to real-world challenges. The program encouraged critical reflection, intentional growth, and practical leadership strategies relevant to academic environments.

Conclusion
This holistic leadership program supported meaningful professional growth and identity development. Its structured, theory-informed approach offers a replicable model for institutions aiming to empower reflective, purpose-driven leaders in health professions education.
