Bio
Dr. Katerina Venderova is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Science and Course Co-Director of Integrated Sciences 3 at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM). A basic scientist by training with a background in pharmacology, Dr. Venderova brings deep disciplinary expertise to her leadership in medical education, curriculum design, and assessment.

Her scholarly and leadership contributions focus on advancing competency-based medical education (CBME), promoting equity in assessment, and developing integrated curricula that bridge biomedical, clinical, and health systems sciences. As Chair of the Student Progress and Promotion Committee, she plays a pivotal role in monitoring longitudinal development of student competencies and attainment of Educational Program Objectives (EPO) milestones.

She has co-led the design and implementation of inclusive and innovative assessment strategies, including Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), clinical reasoning exams, reflective assessments, and customized NBME exams.

Dr. Venderova is a Fellow of the ASPET Academy of Pharmacology Educators and recipient of multiple teaching and educator awards, including the 2025 ASPET Pharmacology Educator Award and the 2024 Outstanding Educator Award at KPSOM.

Her national impact is further reflected in her roles on the Executive Committee of ASPET’s Pharmacology Education Division, and as a contributor to the Pharmacology Knowledge Objectives Working Group.
