Dr. Jera Elizondo Niewoehner-Green is an assistant professor of community leadership in the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership at The Ohio State University. She holds a B.A. in Spanish, M.Ed. in Community Development Action and Ph.D. in Agricultural Leadership from the University of Florida. Her research interests include the engagement of marginalized groups in leadership development and community change. Specifically, she examines women’s participation in leadership roles and community groups as well as youth empowerment through social capital building and leadership development. She is also heavily invested in developing and teaching curriculum related to leadership theory and practice, critical social theory and leadership, and cultural proficiency.
