Date & Time
Thursday, June 27, 2024, 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Todd Winters Michelle Schelske-Santos
Description

This interactive workshop will emphasize long-term professional and institutional strategies for supporting the scholarship of teaching and enhancement of learning for the food and agriculture workforce. This will be accomplished through mapping submission of proposals to the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s (NIFA’s) Learning and Engagement and Workforce Development grant programs. The focus will be on 1) conceptualizing Logic Models for clear sequential project overviews and 2) establishing a framework for fitting education and workforce development ideas into multiple NIFA Requests for Applications (RFAs). These two strategies will be put into practice by attendees working collaboratively in small groups to identify a specific education or workforce problem, and to formulate an approach to address it. Small group mini-proposals will be shared with the larger workshop group. Distributing and branching application submission to multiple RFAs over time can be aligned with professional and institutional strategic goals. Keywords: SoTL, grants, NIFA, workforce development
