This workshop will provide opportunities for instructors to engage with participants and develop a deeper understanding of the various options available to implement global learning experiences, both domestically and internationally. Instructors will highlight interest and recruiting approaches for study away and study abroad programs. A panel of experts will highlight their successful global learning programs while providing insights for employing new strategies. These strategies will challenge all to evaluate the “traditional” view of study abroad programs while also encouraging new faculty to explore program ideas. Following the panel, instructors will lead an idea generation session to encourage participants to brainstorm potential locations and program topics. In this segment, participants will be encouraged to identify appropriate learning partners to help facilitate their program. A final discussion and wrap up will summarize the collective ideas from our participants to demonstrate the breadth of available options for agricultural, food and natural resource courses. Participants will leave the workshop with a list of resources to further explore and continue program development after the session. This workshop aligns with NACTA’s mission to encourage and promote education excellence by encouraging instructors to think outside their current education experiences and consider how to connect students with innovative global learning opportunities. This workshop aims to inspire and encourage current educators to go beyond typical activities, enhance their teaching efforts and better prepare their students to be a part of a global workforce.
