Bio
Beth LaPensee, PhD, is the Managing Director of Research Strategy at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) at the University of Michigan (U-M). In her role, Beth supports the development, operationalization, and advancement of MICHR’s translational science vision. She assesses the U-M research ecosystem to identify opportunities to build and test innovations that will increase the efficiency and impact of research. Beth has also crafted MICHR’s team science vision, and oversees its implementation, which was informed by her significant experience in building and advancing cross-disciplinary teams to tackle complex problems in health research. She also works to foster partnerships locally and nationally to synergize priorities and disseminate novel solutions for roadblocks in team science and the translational research process more broadly. Beth has more than a decade of experience in the fields of team science, research development, and design thinking that she leverages to advance MICHR’s translational science priorities as well as cross-disciplinary research teams across U-M.
