Welcome and Plenary Session: Do we deserve a D or an F for our grading practices?

Educators have typically used grades as a measure of learning, to provide feedback, and to motivate students to learn. This session will describe how traditional grading practices are problematic for each of those and why it is time to examine alternate approaches. Attendees will participate in a team-based learning exercise designed to stimulate thinking about grading reform.
