Some challenges of a traditional implementation of TBL include the management of logistics and the limitations of a paper-based approach. These challenges are amplified when implementing TBL with large classes. In 2018 we implemented Moodle as a supplemental LMS to reduce and resolve these challenges and have had substantial success in this regard over the past six years.
The aim of this workshop is to introduce and train participants in the use of Moodle as a supplemental LMS to support TBL. Participants will experience the tRAT and application exercises using Moodle. Additionally, participants will create a tRAT and application activities using Moodle. Through this workshop participants will learn the benefits of an electronic platform to deliver TBL. Benefits to be highlighted include: reduced logistics, alternative question types for the RAT and application exercises, additional capabilities for facilitating the application phase, and electronic capture of TBL data. Options to implement a Moodle platform will be explored.
