Name
Workshop: Leading Educational Change and Advancing Essential Skills Through Team-Based Learning
Description

Institutions want to prepare learners not only to master disciplinary knowledge, but also to lead, communicate, think critically, and contribute effectively in modern professional environments. Yet shifting perceptions of higher education, changing patterns of human interaction, and entrenched institutional practices can make that goal difficult to achieve. Even when the desired outcomes are clear, leading the change required to reach them can feel like swimming against the current.

Team-based learning (TBL) offers a practical framework for moving forward. In this session, we will explore TBL at the intersection of disciplinary expertise, career readiness, and institutional change leadership. We will consider how foundational elements of TBL—including transparency, accountability, active engagement, and human connection—can help leaders build support for change while creating learning environments that strengthen essential skills such as leadership, professionalism, critical thinking, and communication.
Participants will leave with a clearer path for leading educational change and practical strategies for helping learners thrive in today’s professional landscape.
