Bio
Anthony Tarone was selected as the Deputy Regional Administrator for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Region 3 office in November of 2015. In this position, Mr. Tarone assists the Regional Administrator in overseeing and directing 27 professionals in two offices, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., who provide grant development and program management support to public transit stakeholders in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Tarone possesses over 27 years of experience with FTA and brings a diverse and extensive understanding of FTA’s practices and programs spanning many functional areas including planning, environmental, grant development, financial management, procurement, real estate, civil rights, major capital projects, grant management, and oversight.

Mr. Tarone began his career at FTA Headquarters in 1992 and has been in the Region 3 office since 1994, where he has held several positions, including Community Planner in the Office of Planning and Program Development from 1994 to 2011 and Director of the Office of Program Management and Oversight from 2011 to 2015. Throughout his career, he has provided strategic direction, established process improvements, and achieved many notable accomplishments. He is the recipient of various FTA performance awards for outstanding teamwork, innovative thinking, and exceptional service.

Mr. Tarone has a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Ursinus College and a Master of Science in Human Organization Science, with a concentration in Public Administration, from Villanova University.
