Name
Seminar: The Mason Dixon Line Through the Journal and Google Earth (2 PDH)
Description

Mr. Casteel intends to take a brief journey through the events leading up to the controversy between Lord Baltimore, Cecil Calvert of Maryland and William Penn of Pennsylvania, and the survey of their disputed boundary which was carried out by a pair of English Astronomers/Surveyors, Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon. This 82-year controversy led to a line defined by the most accurate instruments and procedures of their day, and over some of the most hostile territory of the time, and taking four years to complete. Mr. Casteel hopes to give relevance to the massive undertaking of completing a task of this magnitude in an era in which the horse and wagon was the most modern mode of transportation through the lene of Google Earth
