Name
Seminar: The Darling Line and Four Corners (2 PDH)
Description

Ehud Darling surveyed the Colorado-New Mexico boundary in 1868 but didn’t quite get it on the 37th parallel of latitude where it was supposed to be. The presentation discusses “Putting it in the wrong place, which became right; then putting it in the right place, which was wrong; then putting it back in the right wrong place.” The famous Four Corners Monument was set by Chandler Robbins in 1875 on Darling’s Line, and Don will explain why despite media reports to the contrary Four Corners has always been in exactly, though not precisely, the right spot.
