Lloyd Kirk, PS - CFS, is the Survey Practice Leader for Triad Engineering's Southwestern Regional Office in Scott Depot, WV. Originally licensed to survey in North Carolina, Lloyd returned to West Virginia, after 24 years of surveying across several southern states, and was licensed to practice in West Virginia in 2012. As an early participant in the Certified Floodplain Surveyor Program (NC CFS #139), Lloyd intends to explore the possibility of establishing the NSPS CFS Program through our Society and in coordination with the National Society of Professional Surveyors. Considering the typically annual seasonal flooding that occurs in West Virginia, the skills and abilities gained from the CFS training for certification provide a greater understanding of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), a more streamlined application process for Letters of Map Amendment (LOMA) and Letters of Map Revision due to Fill (LOMR-F), and expands the expertise of the Professional Surveyor who can offer a focused and valuable service to our communities, and helps to further our foremost responsibility to protect the public health, safety, and welfare.
