Bio
Kaden Statler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology at Fairmont State University, where he teaches in the Surveying and Geomatics Engineering Technology program. He holds a Master of Education in Professional Studies and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Surveying and Geomatics Engineering Technology and History, all from Fairmont State.
With a passion for history, Kaden focuses on the heritage of the surveying profession, including historical boundary research and the recovery of early survey monuments like those from the Mason-Dixon Line. His work brings historical context into the classroom, helping students connect modern practices with the profession’s deep roots.
He is actively involved with the Mason-Dixon Historical Park, where he contributes to research, education, and preservation efforts tied to the historic boundary line and its regional legacy. He also maintains membership in the Surveyors Historical Society and other regional organizations that support the preservation of the surveying profession’s legacy.
Kaden has been an active member of the West Virginia Society of Professional Surveyors since 2019. He was named the WVSPS Future Surveyor in 2023 and the Surveying Technician of the Year in 2025. He also passed the Fundamentals of Surveying exam in May of 2025 and is currently gaining experience as a surveying crew chief at Triad Engineering, Inc.
