Though Cell Biologist by training, Teun de Vries has a keen interest in educational innovation. He enjoys teaching smaller groups, such as at Amsterdam University College, but he does not refrain from interactive teaching even in larger lecture halls. He is convinced that interacting with students is key to making teaching worthwhile for all involved. He was a board member of ACTA’s program committee with emphasis on course evaluations. His observations of his own classroom experience were articulated in three articles on education. As project leader of team TBL, his ultimate goal is to optimize TBL at ACTA, by listening to advice from both students that undergo TBL and teachers that design and teach it.
