Patrick Simon was first introduced to Land Surveying in a one-semester course while attending Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1975 and even earned the Surveying merit badge while a Boy Scout. He worked his way from Rodman to Crew chief to Senior Project/Office manager to the Baltimore County Chief of Surveys. He was first licensed in 1987. He worked for private surveying companies for 28 years prior to joining the county in 2003 and stayed there until he retired in 2022 after surveying for 47 years. He is a Past-President of the Maryland Society of Surveyors, was on the Community College of Baltimore County Surveying Advisory Board and the Maryland State Geographic Information Committee. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors, Surveyors Historical Society, The Mason & Dixon Line Preservation Partnership and an Honorary member of the Maryland Society of Surveyors where is the chairman of two committees.
