Bio
Dr. Robin English received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1995. She went on to complete her pediatrics residency and chief residency at LSU and joined the faculty there in 1999. She was the hospitalist division chief at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans and the pediatrics clerkship director at LSU School of Medicine for many years. In 2008, she was recruited to direct the introductory clinical skills course and assist with curriculum oversight as the Director of the Clinical Sciences Curriculum. She directed a pre-clerkship curriculum revision beginning in 2012, which continues as an ongoing quality improvement project. She was the chair of the Executive Committee for the LSU Health Science Center Teaching Academy for 5 years, and she directed the Quality Enhancement Plan for LSU’s institutional accreditation in 2015. In 2016, she became the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education.
Dr. English has been an active member of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics since 2001, serving as the Research and Scholarship Task Force co-chair for 5 years. She was an editorial board member of the American Academy of Pediatrics PREP program for 6 years and an Associate Editor of Aquifer Pediatrics cases for 3 years. She is a member of the leadership team for Aquifer Sciences and serves as a lead editor for Integrated Illness Scripts.
Dr. English has won numerous teaching awards at LSU School of Medicine, including the Humanism in Medicine Award. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her educational interests include teaching clinical reasoning and the integration of basic sciences with clinical medicine.
