Bio
Kate studied Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham, graduating in 1994, and completed her pre-
registration training at King's College Hospital, London, joining the register as a pharmacist in 1995. She
gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice in 1999 and has worked in a number of clinical
specialities over her 20 years as an NHS hospital pharmacist.
Having developed a particular interest in teaching and training, Kate was a pre-registration pharmacist tutor
and postgraduate diploma tutor for eight years. In 2005, she joined the University of Reading, School of
Pharmacy as its first Teacher Practitioner and was instrumental in developing the first MPharm programme
at the School. Moving into academia full time in 2015, Kate became a Lecturer in Pharmacy, and relocated to
Malaysia to join the Pharmacy team at University of Reading Malaysia, where she became Head of Section –
Pharmacy and Lead for Interprofessional Education & Experiential Learning.
Kate became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2017 and in the same year completed a
Master’s in Education with the Open University (UK). She also was awarded a University of Reading Teaching
Fellowship, a prestigious award conferred on an individual who has demonstrated individual excellence and
contributed to the development of teaching and learning within the University.
Returning to the University of Reading UK campus in September 2019, Kate is now an Associate Professor of
Pharmacy Education & Practice, and Programme Director of a new postgraduate clinical pharmacy
programme.
