Description
Health care morbidity, mortality and costs have skyrocketed in the United States. The CDC reports that over 90% of $4.1 Trillion is spent treating chronic conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer, all linked to lifestyle behaviors.
The USCSOMG team will provide the rationale for healthcare provider training in evidence-based Lifestyle Medicine to use in conjunction with conventional medicine to prevent, treat, and reverse chronic conditions. The team also will provide examples of Lifestyle Medicine training in medical education regarding mechanisms related to chronic conditions. The talk will conclude with the team providing tools for clinical educators to promote Lifestyle Medicine training in their medical schools.
