Bio
Dr. Olvet earned her PhD in Biopsychology at Stony Brook University and was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Dr. Olvet joined the faculty at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (ZSOM) in 2018 as the Medical Education Research Manager in the Department of Science Education. She teaches the clinical epidemiology thread to medical students in the First 100 Weeks of the curriculum and is the course director for the biostatistics elective offered to fourth year students. She serves as a member of the Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education (SDRME) and the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE). Dr. Olvet mentor’s students and junior faculty on their clinical and medical education research projects and offers faculty development workshops on how to improve scholarly writing. Dr. Olvet’s research interests are in the use of open-ended question-based assessment in medical education.
