Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD) in South Florida is the first Doctor of Medicine program in Broward County, aspiring to reverse the current steady decline of licensed physicians in South Florida by preparing the next generation of physicians to meet demands for more accessible, cost-effective and patient-centered health care. The mission at NSU MD is advancing human health through innovation in medical education, research, patient care and community engagement. Our students train to become active learners, work in small groups, and learn to solve medical problems through active inquiry. They further engage in clinical cases and a team-based approach, to solve complex problems by honing diagnosis skills. The program leverages both simulated patients and real-world examples. The innovative curriculum integrates didactics on ethics and humanities, genomics, inter-professional collaboration, biomedical informatics, and leadership, with heavy emphasis on research, technology and innovation.
