Purpose
Master adaptive teachers grow by genuinely understanding their students in order to coach them to become master adaptive learners. The thoughtful introspection of teachers as learners themselves fosters the understanding of their students. In this project, medical educators from four schools shared and reflected upon their insightful moments in learning to shed some light on the path of understanding others as learners, as well as learning itself. The project aims to 1) Identify the key elements of the most impactful moments experienced by teachers as students; 2) Analyze those moments to uncover insights that inform and enhance teaching; and 3) Apply reflection to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.

Methods
Teachers participating in the study were invited to share a personal story recounting their most captivating and impactful moment as students-an experience that deeply resonated with them in their own learning journey. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns in the recorded narratives to identify recurring themes and patterns that reveal insights into effective learning experiences. Building on this analysis, teachers engage in reflective exercises to explore the significance of their stories and consider practical ways to apply these lessons to enhance their teaching practices.

Results
Six themes were identified from the collected stories: master adaptive learning of declarative knowledge; master adaptive learning procedural knowledge; resilience as an essential characteristic of master adaptive learners; initiate master adaptive learning by motivation; coaching master adaptive learning through assessment; modeling integration by master adaptive learning.

Conclusion
By revisiting and analyzing their most impactful learning experience as students, teachers gain deeper insight into the core elements of effective learning, refine teaching practices, and enhance their ability to guide students toward becoming master adaptive learners.
