Description

Purpose
Simulation-based education in multicultural contexts presents unique challenges, including diverse learner needs, varying levels of faculty training, and the complexities of course design. A professional development course tailored for healthcare educators, utilizing simulation-based education within distant, multicultural environments, has been built and implemented, adhering to Healthcare Standards of Best Practices. This hybrid faculty development program provides effective learning outcomes for faculty teaching in diverse, resource-limited settings.

Methods
The program will run in an international medicine program. Twenty faculty members will participate in a hybrid facultative development program, including four virtual sessions for two hours during February - May 2025. Topics included are simulation best practices, designing a simulation scenario, PEARLS debriefing, and OSCE essentials. Once the virtual sessions are completed, an in-person seminar of two days and hands-on workshops will reinforce the topics.

Results
This project involves two different Simulation Centers, including 3 leaders in curricular design, 2 professors, and 20 participants. Pre- and post-surveys will be collected to assess faculty satisfaction.

Conclusion
By building a hybrid professional development program designed to navigate and overcome the barriers inherent in multicultural, remote learning environments, participants are encouraged to create inclusive, effective educational experiences that adhere to best practices in healthcare simulation.
