Purpose
The Basic Sciences Review I-Remedial Course at Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine is designed to support students preparing for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE Step 1), particularly those who struggle to meet the exam requirements. This course aims to enhance students' readiness by addressing knowledge gaps, providing personalized support, and reducing performance-related stress and anxiety.

Methods
This course includes 40 hours of one-on-one tutoring sessions with a third-party provider and monthly group review sessions. Students receive a customized study calendar tailored to their academic needs, and their progress is monitored through individualized guidance, test-taking strategies, counseling, and stress management sessions. Data collected from 2021 to 2023, including student feedback, is analyzed to evaluate the course's impact.

Results
Of the 100 students who participated in this course from 2021 to 2023, 100% reported being very satisfied or satisfied with the individual tutoring sessions. Meanwhile, 95% expressed similar satisfaction with the group sessions. Students indicated the course addressed their specific learning needs for USMLE Step 1 preparation. Ninety-five percent (95%) stated they were satisfied with the professional counseling they received during the course.

Conclusion
The Basic Sciences Review I-Remedial Course has impacted students by helping them identify knowledge gaps, improve study techniques, and manage stress, ultimately enhancing their readiness for the USMLE Step 1. These results emphasize the value of individualized and guided review programs for medical students facing challenges in preparing for their licensing exams.
