Dr. Krista Blackwell, PhD, is an assistant professor and medical educator in the field of physiology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. She has an interest in developing mindfulness education tools for medical students to help successfully navigate the challenges throughout the preclerkship and clerkship training. Krista has also received mindfulness facilitator training and is currently working on scholarship within medical education and human flourishing. In addition to her interest in mindfulness, Krista was an assistant dean for a special master's program in the School of Graduate Studies at Rutgers University, where she mentored and advised students interested in careers in medicine. She saw firsthand the stress students experience with the medical school application process and the transition to medical school. As a result, she became interested in mindfulness and other tools to better assist students with managing life during these stressful times.
