Bio
Carl A. Frizell is a certified physician assistant/associate (PA-C), late-diagnosed autistic and neurodivergent advocate, and a 2nd-year PhD student in Change Leadership in Equity and Inclusion at the University of Central Arkansas. Since January 2016, he has made significant contributions to the healthcare field through his clinical practice and research endeavors. As a Physician Assistant Educator and through his experience in medical oncology at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Carl has demonstrated his commitment to providing high-quality patient care and mentoring future healthcare professionals. However, as a neurodivergent person, Carl has experienced inequities and exclusion in PA education. These challenges have motivated him to shift his focus to neurodivergent advocacy by using his voice via manuscript publication. In fact, his most recent manuscript, which addresses the need to confront neurotypical ableism, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of PA Education. Through his work, Carl aims to raise awareness about the importance of embracing neurodiversity and challenging the notion that differences equate to deficiencies. He believes that this course will provide him with the tools to strengthen his voice and help others recognize that neurodivergent individuals bring unique perspectives and valuable contributions to the world.
