This ignite session will explore the practical approaches to incorporate generative AI in teaching and learning as a frontline educator in health profession education at the individual level. Educators everywhere brave the evolving landscape of education with increasing generative AI use and are in need of practical skills and strategies that they can use, but institutional support and infrastructure vary and might not be readily available for everyone.
The presenters will walk the participants through key concepts, including practice points for responsible AI use, prompting for desired outcomes, and guided questions to plan for generative AI incorporation in teaching and learning. Attendees will participate in a 20-minute breakout session to use generative AI to solve a current teaching challenge and to explore strategies to foster critical thinking in AI-enhanced learning experiences.
By the end of this session, participants will be equipped with readily adaptable prompt approaches and design strategies that they can use to assist their educator tasks or to plan learning experiences. Participants will be empowered to further experiment with the generative AI tools regardless of their experience level.
