Name
Workshop: How to Present on Anything: Building Your Own Toolkit for Effective Visual Communication
Date
Monday, July 24, 2023
Time
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM (EDT)
Description

In the research development community, we are frequently called up to either formally present or informally communicate information which is not “ours” - for which we must become temporary experts. These situations can arise in response to funding opportunities, strategic intelligence about new programs, analyzing budget trends, and more.

In this workshop - through mini presentations, independent work, and collaborative group exercises, - participants will:

  1. Gain a practical foundation for effective visual communication;
  2. Explore and contribute to the collaborative “best practices of visual and verbal communication” in order to build confidence in their own skills; and
  3. Integrate presented strategies and discussion and build their own personalized template toolkit, which will enable them to “present on anything”.

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or other device, a copy of one of their own presentations (either upcoming or prior), and PowerPoint or a similar slide presentation application for some of the exercises.
