WORKSHOP: NACTA Journal Reviewer Certification
Date & Time

Location Name
Exhibit Hall Meeting Room 1
Description

Peer-review is an integral component to scholarly publication. The peer review process not only upholds the quality of literature in a discipline but also advances the knowledge base that develops future research. However, reviewers report that they have not received training even though a majority would like the opportunity (Snell & Spencer, 2005). NACTA reviewers face the additional challenge of simultaneously understanding issues in higher education beyond their disciplinary interest. This workshop serves to certify reviewers for the NACTA Journal through three objectives:

1. Review the purpose of the NACTA Journal and the type of scholarship that is published.
2. Critically analyze the tasks and responsibilities of NACTA reviewers.
3. Actively engage in review evaluation to improve author feedback through the review process.

Upon completion of the workshop, we will certify participants as reviewers for NACTA journal as outlined in the new journal standard operating procedures. The workshop will be led by the NACTA Editorial board members with content for the workshop adapted from professional trainings curated by organizations such as Elsevier, Springer, SAGE and Taylor and Francis.
