Bio
Brandy Farlow serves as a Research Proposal and Documentation Specialist at the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, bringing a wealth of writing and editing experience to assist on research projects and proposals. As an extension to her position, Brandy works with RENCI’s Accelerating Collaborative Team Science (ACTS) working group, where she helps lead meetings, run and organize webinars, and develop potential research concepts for the team. Beyond RENCI, Brandy is currently pursuing her PhD in Leadership, where she focuses her studies on components of collaborative team science leadership and science of team science theory in relation to healthcare. That said, she has always been passionate about STEM and previously served as a secondary math and science teacher, where she enjoyed helping students understand how STEM classroom learning connected to the larger world and to other subjects. Brandy holds a Bachelor degree in English, with additional studies in Geology and Mathematics, and a Masters degree in Mathematics Education. She has always been, and remains, passionate about the connection between the STEM world and the humanities, trying to understand the overlaps between each pursuit and how they can be used to enable and enhance one another. She particularly loves digging more into the science of team science, because it provides her a way to connect all these interests in a way that benefits science research.
