The Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework describes how to intentionally design curricula to support learners at all ends of the ability spectrum. UDL provides a set of three guiding principles and thirty-one checkpoints for designing courses to be supportive of, and accessible to, all learners. The guiding principles include providing multiple means of: Representation, action and expression, and engagement. Each guiding principle has checkpoints that provide suggestions for implementation. In this workshop, we will give a brief introduction to the UDL framework and situate Team-Based Learning (TBL) within this framework. We will provide resources and ideas to help instructors plan for and implement UDL principles in their TBL classrooms.
