In an era where technology is rapidly transforming education, integrating artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT into Team-Based Learning (TBL) offers exciting opportunities for innovation. This workshop, "Harnessing ChatGPT to Design Innovative TBL Modules," is designed for educators seeking to enhance their TBL strategies through the power of AI.
Participants will explore how ChatGPT can be leveraged to streamline the creation and refinement of TBL modules. The session begins with a brief introduction to ChatGPT’s capabilities and its potential applications in TBL design. Attendees will then engage in a readiness assurance test (RAT) to refresh their understanding of advanced TBL concepts and AI tools.
Following the RAT, participants will design a TBL module using ChatGPT as part of the GAEs. Teams will develop key components such as readiness assurance tests, application exercises, and discussion prompts. The hands-on approach allows participants to directly apply AI tools to create engaging and effective educational content.
After the design phase, teams will present their modules to peers for constructive feedback. This peer review process encourages collaborative refinement, allowing participants to enhance their modules based on diverse insights. The workshop concludes with a role-playing simulation where teams test their modules in a simulated classroom setting, followed by a reflective discussion on the effectiveness of their designs, and selection of the best overall module.
This workshop provides a practical, interactive experience that equips educators with innovative strategies for incorporating ChatGPT into their TBL frameworks. Participants will leave with actionable insights and refined TBL modules, ready to integrate AI tools into their educational practice to foster more dynamic and effective learning environments.
