Bio
Dr. Heather Christensen, an Associate Professor-Educator in the Department of Medical Education, received her PhD in Physiology from the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine. At UC, she is the course director for Renal & Pulmonary and the longitudinal elective director for “Teaching in Medical Education.” Outside of her department, Dr. Christensen is the immediate past-president of Women in Medicine & Science at UC, is a facilitator of the Mind-Body-Medicine curriculum, and has completed Soulbird’s train-the-trainer program for Cultural Humility practices. Within IAMSE, she is the co-founder and co-chair of IAMSE’s Equity & Advocacy Committee (EAC ; founder and former chair of the EnGAGE committee). Her service work and scholarly interests include research on gender equity. In 2020, Dr. Christensen was named the “Emerging Leader” by the AAMC Group on Women in Medicine & Science, for her work in advancing equity within her institution and in the field of medical education, and in 2021 she was invited to give a TedX talk for the TedX Cincy women’s event, titled “The Reality of a Female Leader.”
